BABY ENOCH'S MOOD

Baby shooting in photography requires a lot of PATIENT Communicating with an adult is much easier as one can easily express their feelings verbally. While babies can only communicate their feelings through facial expressions and body posture. Babies from 0-4 months moods ain't predictable, he/she could smile or yawn in one minute and in another minute he/she may cry out loud , whatever moods! I have learnt to respect it, but with my camera .

Permit me every picture tells a story, but I've came to realise that BABIES stories are factual. You don't tell him/her to pose they already have great pose( cry, laugh, smile, yawn) etc all these poses are natural and real.

I document every moment, I don't want to deprive him/her the memories. Every moment comes with it own story so I keep shooting and shooting, or what shall it profit me when I tell a child you laughed but nothing to proof that he once cried out loud or suckle his/her mother's breast 

When a family book you for their baby shoot, you truly ain't familiar with the baby, so what do I do? 

First: I know my model is the baby, but to get familiar with the baby, his/her mother becomes my indirect source as she is conversant with the baby.

Second: I pick the best time frame for the shoot. I don't go for a baby shoot late, if am booked for say 3:00pm I get there 12p.m or 1pm at most. Why? Because I need to setup my equipments, I want familiarity BTW I and the Baby, i also will like to do a BTS shoot.

Don't forget to ask his/her mother the number of costumes the baby will be wearing. 0-4 months shouldn't go beyond 3-4 costumes. The baby need rest please, it's advisable to ask the mother questions before the D-DAY. Kids react differently with different temperament/emotions.

Finally be flexible and patient with them - give them time to suck their mother's breast( I call it break time)  if the mother permits you to photograph why not? GO AHEAD but if NO let it be unless you will be queried or sued . Don't forget kids are gift from God start your shoot with Prayer and congratulate the family on the arrival of their kid(s).
